Senior Research Scientist – Protein Engineering

We are seeking for an experienced senior scientist to expand our molecular biology capabilities and to join the Protein Engineering and Discovery department. The primary mission of the team is to design and engineer recombinant proteins and to enable drug discovery in the human health field.

The candidate for this role should be an expert in state-of-art molecular biology techniques that has successfully designed and built a variety of high-quality DNA libraries as part of synthetic biology, or high-throughput screening/selection projects.

The ideal candidate has worked with multiple host organisms and cell free expression systems; Has experience designing novel gene fusions, experience with chromosome editing techniques, and experience in vector design/selection; Is a team player, an excellent communicator, and possesses a high degree of independence and initiative.

Responsibilities:

The candidate is expected to utilize their expertise in protein design, structural biology, or protein chemistry to develop novel protein-based therapeutic platforms
Design and execute comprehensive experimental plans that inform and enable project progression
Spearhead the analyses of highly complex scientific issues, establish strategies, and suggest actionable resolutions/decisions for pre-clinical programs
Work independently and demonstrate the ability to contribute to projects outside their own expertise
Present data at research project team meetings and seminars to drive recommendations for drug discovery and/or development decisions
Hands-on experiments to generate preclinical data and work across teams to translate these modalities into drug candidates.

Requirements:

Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemical biology, molecular biology, or related discipline, and a minimum of 2 years post-Ph.D. experience either as a post-doc or industrial scientist
Strong background in analyzing protein structure/function and skilled at protein engineering and/or the development of novel bio conjugation approaches
A record of interrogating the structural, mechanistic, and functional aspects of receptor-ligand interactions

Experience in one or more of the following areas: next-generation sequencing, biochemistry/ biophysics, and/or computational modeling – an advantage

Strong written and oral communication skills
Eager to work in a fast-paced, flexible and collaborative team environment
