Tenure-track – Lecturer in Jewish History of Islamic Lands

The Department of Jewish History at Ariel University seeks outstanding candidates to fill a tenure-track position in the Jewish history of Islamic lands (Preference will be given to candidates specializing in the modern period). The position is intended for scholars who engage with central and broad historical issues from social and cultural perspectives. The call is open to all ranks, with expectations adjusted accordingly.

 

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the department’s growth and success, carry out independent research programs, publish in leading platforms, attend local and international academic conferences, apply for research grants, mentor graduate students, and effectively teach courses in both Hebrew and English.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree and international post-doctoral training. Mastery of the theory and methodology of current historical research and languages relevant to the fields is required, including proficiency in Arabic and/or Turkish and competence in European languages. Candidates must be able to teach various courses in these areas. A strong record of published or accepted works in leading academic platforms is required. Academic teaching experience is desired.

·         Copies of 3 published papers that show the candidate’s research interests and abilities

·         A teaching statement (including proposed syllabi for two courses)

·         Teaching evaluations from the past 3 years (if available)
