Project leader within Novocure preclinical research are primarily involved in planning and conducting experiments and analyzing results in order to support the development of new commercial applications and to broaden scientific understanding in general.

The project leader will follow the guidelines provided by the head of the preclinical research for the main objectives of his project, and will try to meet those goals to the best he can.

The project leader is expected to carry out experiments and research either on his own or through the help of research assistants or to support experiments led by other members of the preclinical team. The project leader will be in charge of preparation of materials to be presented in international conferences and for the publication of research papers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning, creating and conducting experiments;
  • Ensuring that quality standards are met;
  • Keeping track on the updated literature in his field of research;
  • Generate novel ideas regarding how to improve treatment, experimental procedures and better understanding of the mechanism of action;
  • Processing and analyzing results and data;
  • Presenting results to senior/other research staff;
  • Communicating results to the scientific community via published papers;
  • Collaborating with industry/academia to apply the results of research and develop new techniques, products or practices;
  • Presenting ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences, and summarizing the nature of the research, methodology and results;
  • Teaching, demonstrating to or supervising research assistants and training and supervising other members of staff;
  • Devising or helping to draw up new research proposals;
  • Working in multidisciplinary teams, in different departments and in different functions of the business in industry.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

Qualifications

  • PhD in biology/biotechnology or other relevant fields.
  • Post-doctoral experience or industry experience is an advantage.

Knowledge:

  • A proven ability to perform independent research.
  • Ability to manage a small number of direct reports productively.
  • Strong background in cancer research and/or neurodegenerative diseases is an advantage
  • Skilled in cell culture methods, flow cytometry, biochemistry methods (western blot, ELISA) and microscopy
