We are seeking a researcher and scientific leader to serve as our Scientific Researcher Lead.
Tectonic labs is a venture-backed deep-tech company building the next generation of post-quantum cryptographic infrastructure. Our team works closely with the government departments, and industry leaders to help bring advanced cryptographic research into real-world, production-grade systems. Beyond PQC, we are also conducting active research on leveraging quantum computation to enable new capabilities and to accelerate emerging primitives. Our mission is to bridge cutting-edge science with practical, secure, and scalable products that will define the future.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and steer the company’s long-term research agenda.
Serve as a primary scientific face of the company to investors, conferences, industry partners, and the broader public.
Drive public presence through invited talks, podcasts, blogs, and participation in global cryptographic and quantum events.
Represent the company in academic and industry discussions, fostering brand awareness and credibility.
Maintain deep situational awareness of global research trends, standards, and emerging quantum threats.
Actively participate in and influence standards bodies (NIST PQC, IETF, ISO, W3C, IEEE, etc.).
Build collaborations with world-leading labs, academic institutions, and industry partners.
Work closely with the founders and product leadership to translate research into deployable protocols and differentiated products.
Support GTM, investor discussions, and strategic partnerships through technical leadership and clear communication.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD from a top global institution (e.g., MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, Princeton, Harvard, ETH Zürich, EPFL, Cambridge, Oxford, Weizmann) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields.
Deep expertise, post-quantum cryptography, demonstrated through publications, research leadership, or systems-level contributions.
Demonstrated experience leading research groups or labs.
Strong external presence, including:
frequent invited talks
conference appearances
active social presence (Twitter/X, blogging, etc.)
ability to be a public-facing thought leader
Nice-to-Have Experience
Experience in quantum cryptography or quantum information,
Experience with standardization processes (NIST PQC, IETF, ISO).
Experience bringing research from theory → prototype → production.
Crypto/blockchain/Web3 background.
Startup or early-stage leadership experience.
