Biopharma Hackathon - drive innovation in research and develop new solutions for patients.
As part of the science abroad workshop this year in collaboration with Teva we will hold a mini-hackathon in the last day of the workshop. During the course of 12+ hours, the science abroad participants and additional PhD and post doc students from all backgrounds will come together, form teams around a specific idea or problem, and explore unique solutions from scratch. hacking means coming up with rapid, clever, and unexpected solutions – and the participants will have a unique chance of presenting their ideas to a professional audience from the biopharma ecosystem. During the day, the participants will explore the business potential of their ideas, the target population, competition, defining better the unmet need and learn how to present the idea to potential investors or partners.
Each one of the participants is requested to suggest an idea e.g. potential drug, diagnosis method, technology, device etc. (up to 1/2 page) around a relevant unmet need or challenge related to the biopharma or biomed world. The idea can be taken directly from your research or from your previous and current experience (make sure no ip related issues are of concern since the hackathon is a learning experience and any idea disclosed will be publically known). In the first day of the workshop, each one of the participants will present the idea in 1 slide and 5 leading ideas will be selected to form the hackathon teams around them. In the last day, the participants will work in diverse teams to explore the business potential of the idea together with experienced mentors and will get the chance of presenting their final ventures in front of professional and KOLs from the biotech industry.
