In our site Haifa, Israel | Lonza , we are currently looking for an experienced Principal scientist mRNA (f/m/d) to manage and hands on in a high-performing, cross-functional CIC mRNA research team with the goal of developing and performing proof of concept of novel technologies in the mRNA field.

Innovative and result-oriented R&D group leader will manage and also have hands on in a high-performing, cross-functional mRNA research team with the goal of developing and carrying out proof of concept of novel technologies in mRNA delivery. Work with various Lonza groups globally as well as with scientist in academia and start- up companies. Strong knowledge in molecular biology, mRNA based vaccines /therapeutics, knowledge in drug delivery systems. Be part of the scientific team that analyses new technologies prior to/and before their introduction into Lonza Collaborative Innovation Centre (CIC) in Israel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of projects at CIC in alignment with mRNA business unit based on a defined mission and established road map
  • Design and successfully deliver of mRNA research projects defined to be of strategic value to R&D and of scientific and business impact.
  • Actively support the development of new innovative projects
  • Collaborate with mRNA BU research groups, additional R&D functions, external collaborators and relevant subcontractors
  • Achieve deliverables on time, and clearly communicate results to the different scientific, industrial collaborators and other cross functional teams
  • Generate reports, execute experimental studies and carry out analysis of data
  • Assemble training plans for the team including assignment of projects and/or work packages and monitor workload and performance
  • Play a key role in the career development of the team members
  • Establish networks, both internally and externally and keep abreast of the emerging scientific and technological competitive landscape in therapeutic/disease areas that are related to the goals of the team

 

Key Requirements

  • PhD, MSc Biotechnology/Biochemistry or other relevant degree
  • At least 4 years of relevant biotech/CDMO working experience
  • Proven scientific experience in mRNA and/or drug delivery systems
  • A proven record of delivery in the field
  • Critical thinking and innovative approach to scientific problems
  • Capable to work independently as well as in multidisciplinary teams
  • Management experience
  • Excellent English proficiency
