Rona is a pediatrician, a geneticist and a bioinformatics researcher. She received her M.D. with honors from Tel Aviv University, and a bioinformatics Ph.D from Bar-Ilan University.
Rona completed a pediatric residency at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel, and a computational-biology research-fellowship at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), MD, USA. Currently she is engaged in a medical genetics fellowship at Mount-Sinai, NY, USA.
As a physician scientist with deep interest in gene therapy, her research revolves around base-editing techniques as a means of reverting mutations in inherited diseases and cancer.
Rona serves as the first manager of the ScienceAbroad community for Israeli medical doctors who are engaged in clinical or research fellowships abroad.
