Bina is a scientific unit at the Weizmann Institute of Science, under the auspices of the Office of the Vice President for Innovation and Technology Transfer. Bina identifies early-stage basic research projects with potential practical applications that are likely to produce intellectual
property. Bina then nurtures and supports these projects through mentoring and funding.

This new unit serves as an academic innovation hub, leveraging the Weizmann Institute’s collective brainpower to synergize ideas and develop new therapies and technologies, increasing campus engagement in the pipeline to practical applications; funding early-stage applied research projects; and creating new opportunities at the interface of academia and -industry interface for scientists and students alike.

In this role, the candidate will:

• Identify early-stage basic research projects at the Weizmann Institute across disciplines and assess their translational potential
• Oversee projects end-to-end, including building a work plan, as well as budgeting, monitoring and reporting
• Work closely with top-tier scientists and industry professionals and manage their relationships
• Expand a network of industry experts to work with Bina
• Measure project performance using project management tools
• Develop innovation-oriented education programs for researches

Requirements:

• PhD in the life sciences with 3-5 years of experience in either academic research or industry
  Previous project planning experience
• Ability to search, read, and analyze professional scientific literature
• Execution-focused leader with the ability to self-learning and initiating activities
• Superb written and verbal communication skills (Hebrew and English)
• Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
